Dive into National Entrepreneurship Week 2023

The COVID-19 pandemic sparked the entrepreneurial spirit across the United States. In fact, new business applications have risen 44% between 2019 and 2022, according to data published by the U.S. Census Bureau. Unfortunately, many new businesses don’t succeed. In fact, over 50% of small businesses fail within the first year.

The stark contrast between entrepreneurial energy and entrepreneurial success drives home an important question: Why aren’t we empowering students with entrepreneurial skills? Why aren’t we helping today’s students prepare to run a successful business in the future? Tomorrow’s business leaders are in the classroom today, which means it’s crucial to give students the knowledge they need before graduation.

This is where National Entrepreneurship Week comes in.

What Is National Entrepreneurship Week?

National Entrepreneurship Week is a congressionally chartered week dedicated to empowering entrepreneurship across the United States. The annual initiative was relaunched in 2017 as NatlEshipWeek to bring together a network of partners from Maui to Miami to educate, engage, and build equitable access to America's Entrepreneurship Ecosystem.

Every year, National Entrepreneurship Week hosts a series of planned events and helps ecosystem builders share their events taking place across the country. You can see the full line-up of events here, all taking place between February 11-18, 2023.

Can I Join National Entrepreneurship Week as an Educator?

Absolutely! As an entrepreneurship educator, you are crucial to the entrepreneurship economy. In fact, between Certiport and the NatlEshipWeek team, there are multiple opportunities for you to connect with and learn from your fellow educators.

We’ll talk about their experience starting their own businesses, the lessons they’ve learned, what they wish they’d done differently, and how you can spark the entrepreneurial fire in your classrooms.
