You may have heard our big announcement during our CERTIFIED opening keynote in June. Certiport is now partnering with Project Management Institute (PMI) to offer a new certification, PMI Project Management Ready™. The PMI Project Management Ready certification is a way for students to immerse themselves in the project management industry and connect with this passionate community of professionals.
PMI is the world's leading association for those who consider project, program or portfolio management their profession. Through global advocacy, collaboration, education and research, PMI works to prepare more than three million professionals around the world for The Project Economy: the coming economy in which work and individuals are organized around projects.
The new PMI Project Management Ready certification will introduce and familiarize high school and post-secondary students to the concepts and field of project management, and the tools to apply this knowledge to a wide range of career paths. It fills the need for an industry-recognized certification that allows career and technical education institutions to add value to their programs across career clusters and compete for crucial Perkins Act funding.
“Earning an industry-recognized certification gives students a competitive edge as it demonstrates knowledge and competencies, which is a major asset as they transition to postsecondary education, internship opportunities, the military, or employment,” said Michael DePrisco, Vice President, Global Experience & Solutions at PMI. “Everyone can benefit from project management skills, and the PMI Project Management Ready certification is the perfect entry point for students into the project management world. The PMI Project Management Ready certification is aligned with our “Learn, Practice, Certify” model. Courseware, practice tests and the certification exam will be offered through Certiport. The courseware and practice tests will be available in September, with the certification exam becoming available near the end of 2020.
