The American Council on Education (ACE)

The American Council on Education (ACE) is the USA's unifying voice for higher education. IC3 has earned an ACE credit recommendation for college education in general education or computing literacy. Global Digital Literacy Council

The Global Digital Literacy Council serves as an advisory body and as an authoritative voice on issues driving the development and implementation of global digital literacy standards and systems around the world. The IC3 standard results from periodic reviews by the Global Digital Literacy Council (GDLC) and recommendations from members of the council, to better attack the challenge of digital literacy needs at several levels. Digcomp

IC3 Digital Literacy is mapped to and aligned with the European Commission’s Digital Competence Framework for Citizens (DigComp). DigComp is a tool to support a common understanding of digital competences to enable people to develop digital competences to support their employability. This reference framework sets out 21 competences, grouped in five key areas, to describe what it means to be digitally competent.

Being digitally competent is more than being able to use the latest device or software. Digital competence is a key transversal competence that means being able to use digital technologies in a critical, collaborative and creative way. DigComp asks people to think about a range of issues such as storing information, protecting digital identity, developing digital content, and behavior online. Romanian Government Recognizes IC3

Romanian Government Recognizes IC3

IC3 Digital Literacy GS5 is recognized by the Ministry of Education as equivalent to the compulsory Digital Competence examination (Examen de competențe digital) that forms part of the National Baccalaureate examination (taken by all Grade 12 high school students). Students who gain IC3 certification are therefore exempt from the Baccalaureate Digital Competence examination. This “equivalence” recognition was gained after it was demonstrated that the objective domains of IC3 more than matched those of the Ministry’s Digital Competence examination.
