What is the Unity Certified User certification program?

Unity Certified User (UCU) is the entry-level certification that demonstrates knowledge of Unity software and skills to create interactive, 2D and/or 3D experiences. Three Unity Certified User certifications are currently available – Programmer, VR Developer, and Artist. Which exam is recommended to be taken first in the Unity Certified User certification program?

Overall, it depends on how the Unity Certified User is being implemented. This program can be implemented in computer science, game design and development, virtual reality, and film/animation classrooms. A great starting point to the certification process, is the recently updated Unity Certified User: VR Developer certification. Updated to a full 50-minute exam, it helps tests the basics to create a VR simulation using Unity, and candidates’ abilities to create VR experiences and programs. This certification allows for students who may not have technical knowledge to enter the world of Unity.

From there, they can progress based on which program it is integrated into. If it is integrated into the computer science program, we recommend the next step by the Programmer certification, which will test the basics of C# programming. If it is implemented into other courses, we recommend progressing through VR Developer, Artist, and Programmer exams.
