Chandrakasem Rajabhat University builds IT foundation with IC3 Digital Literacy certification

Founded in 2004 in Bangkok, Chandrakasem Rajabhat University also known as “CRU” is one of 38 within the Rajabhat University Group in Thailand. CRU's philosophy is "good knowledge, virtuous, leading community development" They are committed to developing graduates with technological abilities and skills suitable for the 21st century. CRU has six bachelor’s degree faculties with 57 programs of study and nearly 2000 new students every year.

At the center of these programs is the new digital world and IT skills that are in demand. CRU University identified the importance of helping their students enhance these competencies to help place them on a path to a successful career. The university has made a policy to develop the digital skills of final year students by IC3 Digital Literacy Certification.

“Our policy is to improve and develop digital skills for our students before enter the labor market because IT skills are the key to modern work quality,” said Asst. Prof. Akhaphan Thanyavinichakul, Director of Academic Resource and Information Technology, Chandrakasem Rajabhat University

CRU worked with ARIT Co.,Ltd., a Certiport partner in Thailand, to enhance their policy for all students by adding IC3 Digital Literacy certification and becoming a Certiport Authorized Testing Center about five years ago and now has more than 1000 students, roughly 65% of the student body, earning certificates every year. Due to the success of their programs, they expect that rate to grow in the future.

When they first launched the program, CRU provided training courses and courseware for instructors and administrators. They needed to earn their IC3 Digital Literacy certifications before training the students. After passing, each trainer is assigned to mentor the students through the university mentoring program until students have gained their skills and can pass IC3 exams with confidence.

CRU’s next step is to prepare the students with top scores to compete in the Microsoft Office Specialist Thailand and subsequently, the MOS World Championship competitions with ARIT Co., Ltd. These events motivate students to take then next step in their pathway to workforce readiness and help them see the value in certification.

Prof. Kiadtipong Yordyiamkrae, Vice President, Chandrakasem Rajabhat University replied, “IC3 Digital Literacy is a great place for students to start who want to work with computers or go into information technology and similar fields. It provides a solid foundation of skills and knowledge to support students along their career paths.”
