Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) Certification is Retiring

The Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification program has served as a crucial asset providing and validating foundational skills for anyone venturing into the broad world of IT, and has been an important part of the Certiport portfolio of exams. Microsoft has recently decided to evolve their certifications to focus on job roles utilizing Microsoft technology. As a result of these changes, Microsoft has elected to retire the MTA program.

Important dates and next steps to be aware of:

  • Beginning July 1, 2021, we will no longer sell Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification exams.
  • The Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) exams will officially retire on June 30, 2022. Effective July 1, 2022, Certiport will suspend all MTA exam delivery.
  • If you are currently studying for an MTA exam, please plan to take the exam before it retires.

Certiport will continue to offer Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE), and Microsoft Certified Fundamentals exams.
