Why I Became an Autodesk Certified User

Every year, thousands of students and professionals around the globe prove their 3D design skills by becoming Autodesk Certified Users. There are lots of design credentials in the marketplace, so we were curious: Why did they choose ACU certification? Read their stories below to find out what motivated them to get certified and how it has helped them to jumpstart their careers.

“I decided to get certified after taking some design classes in my undergraduate program. My professor advised us to get as many certifications as possible to boost our resumes and give us a competitive advantage in the job market. I also had a passion for personal development and getting certified was a great way to boost my confidence and prove to myself that I have what it takes to get the job done. Once I received my certification, I was able to able to secure two jobs using it! It was amazing!

I look forward to sharpening my skills more and more. I also look forward to taking the Autodesk Certified Professional exams very soon!”

“My experience with certifications started in high school. At school, I obtained the ACU certifications on Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor. In that process, I fell in love with 3D modeling and Autodesk. So, after school, I started working at an Autodesk Training Center called Athenagroup.

During the initial phase of my work experience at Athenagroup, I took and passed the Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) certification exams on Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.

Today, I continue to work at Athenagroup and renew the ACU and ACP certifications every year. I keep myself updated on all the new features and changes so that I can offer my students the best and most complete knowledge.”

“I developed a passion for CAD software while working as a surveyor. As my passion grew, I wanted to enhance my skills to go beyond the way I normally use the software at work. The ACU certification was the way for me to challenge myself to do that - to utilize the software beyond how I normally use it.

As I prepared for the ACU exam, I learned the ways in which the software was designed to work. I learned the details that I never observed closely before, I learned the different ways to perform certain tasks. Most importantly, I learned to set great discipline in my workflow from the beginning to the end, which is crucial in large, complex projects.

Today, I hold the ACU certification in AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit. Out of those three, I would say that the AutoCAD one holds the most weight on my resume. AutoCAD certification establishes my core strength and skills while the Inventor and Revit certifications show my capacity to adapt to different types of work and tasks.”

-Codarcea Sabin Bogdan, United Kingdom

“There are many people out there who say that they’ve done certain things. But when you see them in action, you realize that their skills are not as developed as they claim to be. Certification from a valid third-party serves as evidence that one really has the skills. Aside from that, having the certification shows that this person has gone above and beyond their peers. It shows the person’s proactivity and eagerness.”
