Certiport Names Autodesk Fusion 360 Capstone Award Winners

SALT LAKE CITY– March 16, 2018

Certiport (www.certiport.com), a Pearson VUE business, and the leading test delivery solution provider for the global workforce and academic markets, today announces the winners of the first annual Autodesk Fusion 360 Capstone Award. The competition was designed to promote the Autodesk Certified User (ACU) Fusion 360 certification program and recognize students with superior creative and design abilities.

The 2018 Autodesk Fusion 360 Capstone Award winners are:

First place: Varun Raj, India
Second place: Marcell Huszak, Hungary
Third place: Kevin Xavier Matheus Gallardo, Venezuela

The Certiport Autodesk Fusion 360 Capstone Award was held in conjunction with the Autodesk Design for Medical Innovation project and required competitors to have an ACU Fusion 360 certification. Project submissions could include either a design for a new piece of medical equipment or an aesthetic redesign of an existing piece of medical equipment. Judges chose a first-place winner to receive $1,000, second $750 and third $500.

“Product design and development is a high-demand field and at Certiport we aim to open up academic and career opportunities for learners,” said Aaron Osmond, general manager, Certiport. “The Autodesk Fusion 360 Capstone Award furthers that goal by motivating individuals to get certified and prove their skills to potential employers. The outstanding submissions we received prove that Autodesk skills are key to preparing individuals for a career in design.”

Two qualified judges reviewed the projects and chose the winners based on design ability and creativity. Tom Milner is the Head of Design Technology and Engineering at Archbishop Holgate's School in York, United Kingdom.  Dennis Edward Mull is a Drafting and CADD teacher at Sun Valley High School in Monroe, North Carolina.  Both are accredited Autodesk Fusion users and enthusiasts who have worked extensively with Autodesk Education.

“We are grateful for the help and expertise from our judges – these competitions are a valuable way for students to get professional feedback as they begin their design careers,” said Osmond.
