Certiport to feature Iridescent as client for 2017 Adobe Certified Associate World Championship

Digital design finalists to create a project to promote Iridescent’s mission to empower the world’s underrepresented youth

Salt Lake City, UTAH – November 28, 2016

Adobe Certified Associate World Championship (ACAWC)

Certiport (www.certiport.com) a Pearson VUE business, the leading test delivery solution provider for the global workforce and academic markets, today announces that the non-profit client for the 2017 Adobe Certified Associate World Championship (ACAWC) will be Iridescent, a science, engineering and technology education nonprofit organization that empowers underrepresented youth to become self-motivated learners, inventors and leaders.

Over the past seven years, Iridescent has trained more than 3,500 mentors and engaged more than 60,000 participants in their core programs – Curiosity Machine and Technovation. The non-profit was started by Tara Chklovski in 2006 to create and deliver powerful science, engineering and technology education.

"We are honored Adobe and Certiport chose us as the client for the prestigious ACA World Championship,” said Wallace Louie, senior director of marketing, Iridescent. “The competition has a lot of parallels to what we do with Technovation, our technology entrepreneurship program for teams of middle and high school girls. We look forward to judging the projects and interacting with these bright digital design students from all over the world.”

Certiport and Adobe sponsor the ACA World Championship and expect more than 200,000 entries worldwide, with more than 20 countries represented at the final round of the ACA World Championship in Anaheim, CA from July 30 to August 2, 2017. The ACA World Championship is designed to showcase digital communications skills and promote industry certification. In the final round of competition, students will receive instructions, project requirements and assets to complete a real-world design challenge for Iridescent.

“The ACA World Championship is unique every year since we work with a new, inspiring non-profit client,” said Aaron Osmond, general manager, Certiport, a Pearson VUE business. “Iridescent is on the cutting-edge of STEM education activism and their work to help underserved youth discover a love for innovation is inspiring. We believe our ACA World Championship competitors will be inspired as well, resulting in another year of amazing work in the competition.”

For their final design challenge, ACA World Championship student competitors will be asked to envision that they have been hired by Iridescent to create a project using Adobe Creative Cloud applications. They will be given instructions and visual assets such as Iridescent’s logo and imagery and will be able to use Creative Cloud Photoshop®, Illustrator® and/or InDesign® to create the final project.

"At Adobe, we believe in igniting creativity in young people for positive change, and Iridescent is doing just that," said Tacy Trowbridge, education programs lead, Adobe. "The ACA World Championship gives young people an outlet for bringing digital creations to life and delivering them to a real-world client. We look forward to seeing what these bright students design.”

A first ($7,000), second ($3,500) and third ($1,500) place ACA World Champion will be chosen based on a panel of judges reviewing the final design projects. Visit www.ACAChampionship.com for more information.
